Tour de San Luis (st. 2)

Three mountain finishes -including Wednesday's at the Mirador del Potrero- and a trascendental ITT will start defining the Tour de San Luis, with another sprint on Tuesday taken by Modolo (BAR)

The 7th Tour de San Luis awaits for the best version from the Movistar Team riders after two sprinters’ stages on Monday and Tuesday. Italian Sacha Modolo (BAR) claimed the orange leader’s jersey at the final rush in Terrazas del Portezuelo, where he outsprinted Cavendish (OPQ) and Howard (OGE) after a 171km route from Tilisarao where Spanish champion Fran Ventoso could not shine.

The squad directed by José Luis Jaimerena will fight on from tomorrow for the top places in the first of three mountain-top finishes that will decide the race, alongside the 19km ITT in the province’s capital city. The Cat. 1 climb of Mirador del Potrero, with 5k at an average 6.7%, will open fire for the GC contenders after the Alto de Nogolí -the race’s ceiling at 2,100m above sea level-. The last two mountain stages will come on Friday -at La Carolina, previously tackling the Cerro El Amago- and on Saturday, at the Mirador del Sol in Merlo.
