Tour de Pologne (st. 3)

Hushovd (BMC) wins first of two likely sprints before the Tour of Poland's incursion into the Tatr mountains. Eros Capecchi stays in 7th overall

226 kilometers -241, including a long neutral zone from the city center of Kraków, which will hold the grand finale of the race on Saturday- were covered on the first home stage of the 70th Tour de Pologne, soaked in rain for the first half of the parcours, where a four-man breakaway -Matysiak (CCC), Selvaggi (VCD), Dyachenko (AST) and Mestre (EUS)- gained more than eleven minutes of advantage before being chased down with just 2k remaining into the final circuit of Rzeszów. Movistar Team underwent no troubles in this long day, always protecting Eros Capecchi in his 7th place overall, 13 seconds behind local hero Rafal Majka (TST). Thor Hushovd (BMC) won the mass sprint and will have a chance for back-to-back victories Wednesday, in another flat, yet intense day: no less than 232km between Tarnów and Katowice.
