In the terrain less favouring their purely climbing potential -which made Capecchi slip off the top-ten by just three seconds, while Dayer Quintana dropped back to 9th after his top performances in the mountains-, the Movistar Team secured a double prize to close a more than satisfactory participation in their second Tour of Austria. Javi Moreno clocked the same time of track expert Peter Kennaugh (SKY) in the 24km time trial around the Neusiedler See, as the Brit secured his overall yellow in front of the Andalusian, who held off Caruso -39″ ahead- for a second place he claimed atop Dobratsch on Friday.

The other satisfaction of the day came from the virtual confirmation of the teams’ overall victory by the Movistar riders, more than five minutes ahead of Tinkoff thanks to good times from Moreno, Ventoso and young specialist Jasha Sütterlin -14th for the day, 1’15” behind Belgian champino Kristoff Vandewalle (TFR)-. The result is still to be confirmed on Sunday, next to the Burgtheater in Vienna, where Juanjo Lobato hopes to break the curse of second places after two close calls in the race’s two mass sprints.
