With a wet, dangerous final circuit in Vienna, where local Marco Haller (KAT) took the day’s honours, the Movistar Team closed its participation in the 66th Österreich-Rundfahrt (UCI 2.HC) with a satisfactory overview, climbing twice onto the final podium. Javi Moreno took 2nd overall behind Kennaugh (SKY), after regular performances in all short and long climbs: 3rd in Sonntagberg’s opening stage, consistent in both the Kizbüheler Horn -where Dayer Quintana took his first pro win- and also at Dobratsch on Friday.

The telephone squad grabbed an additional prize with the teams’ overall, after putting Quintana into the top-ten (9th) and coming close -just three seconds’ deficit- with Eros Capecchi, 11th in the GC. The good sprints by Juanjo Lobato, 2nd in both Bad Ischl (stage two) and Matrei (four) rounded off a great result for the block alternative to the Tour riders, which will resume action as the Grande Boucle comes to its close with the traditional Prueba Villafranca de Ordizia, on Friday 25th.
