Tour de Wallonie (st. 2)

Lobato unable to position himself well into stage two sprint in Tour de Wallonie. Nizzolo (TFR) succeeeds, Meersman (OPQ) takes over yellow jersey

Second day, same result in the 35th Tour de Wallonie, whose 193km from Peronnes to Perwez saw a finish practically equal to how the race unfolded in Tournai on Saturday. Despite the six côtes along the second part of the course, including the passage over the Route Merveilleuse in the Citadel of Namur, another bunch sprint led the way home, with Giacomo Nizzolo (TFR) raising his arms victorious.

Juanjo Lobato, ranked 3rd yesterday, had problems to take a good position into the bunch leading up to the sprint and couldn’t fight for the bonus seconds, which will keep being served on Monday in another preminently flat route -174km between Somme-Leuze and Neufchâteau-. Gianni Meersman (OPQ) will wear the yellow jersey conquered today.
