Conscious about their underdog status in the 199-kilometer, eleven-lap GP Québec, the Movistar Team saved their best for the end and eventually came close to WorldTour points in the inevitable field sprint, which one of their main references tried to avoid: Jesús Herrada. Following an unsuccessful break attempt by Eros Capecchi in the opening lap, the Spaniard stayed at the front of the bunch until the last lap, when a dangerous 11-rider move was caught -the early break came together with three laps to go- by the whole bunch, including seven of the Blues.

Herrada made his gamble on the slopes of La Potasse, 3km from the end, after previous selection in the Côte de La Monte. Neutralized shortly after, Jesús was bound to fight just for a top-10 place in the final kick, where Simon Gerrans (OGE) beat a long sprint from Dutchman Tom Dumoulin (GIA) in the final pedal strokes. The 13th spot by the younger of the Herradas surely has room for improvement from him and all the Movistar Team riders at Sunday’s GP Montréal (205km), following a transfer by train on Saturday.
