19 February 2018

First-ever race as a full team for the Blues

Squad directed by Jorge Sanz brings 100% Spanish lineup to first UCI event in the country, over four demanding stages (Thursday 22nd - Sunday 25th).

As the women’s Movistar Team completes the seven-day training camp the whole squad is attending through Wednesday in Alicante, Spain, the Blues will be heading north to Gandía, in order to take the start of the 2nd Setmana Ciclista Valenciana (UCI 2.2), a four-day event finishing in Benidorm on Sunday 25th.

The group directed by Jorge Sanz will line up in a race for the first time in their history with a six-woman roster entirely composed of Spanish riders. Mavi García, Lourdes Oyarbide, Lorena Llamas, Eider Merino, Alicia González and local Alba Teruel are the girls selected to wear the new colours.

The Setmana will feature plenty of climbing from start to end, with Barxeta (Cat-3) and Barx (Cat-2) in the inaugural stage; the Desierto de las Palmas (Cat-1) en route to Villarreal on day two (Friday 23rd); the Oronet (Cat-2) near Valencia’s finish (Saturday 24th); and a tough circuit with 3x Alto de Finestrat (Cat-2) to close the race up.
