Strade Bianche lineups

Both men's -led by Alejandro Valverde- and women's squads -ladies set to debut in a UCI Women's WorldTour event- to compete in Italy on Saturday.

For the first time in its history, Movistar Team will line up in the same race with two different squads. The men’s and women’s squads of Eusebio Unzué’s organisation will be present at the Strade Bianche (UCI WorldTour) on Saturday 3rd March, the Italian event having quickly become a real classic with its iconic ‘sterrato’ sections of gravel roads.

At the men’s race, a 184km trek with more than sixty kilometers on offroad tracks, José Luis Jaimerena will direct a seven-man squad led by Alejandro Valverde, back to racing just six days after his brilliant victory in the Abu Dhabi Tour. Joining the marvel from Murcia will be Daniele Bennati, Andrey Amador, José Joaquín Rojas, Nelson Oliveira, Nuno Bico and Carlos Betancur, who puts end to a six-month period out of racing following his injury in the 2017 Vuelta a España.

In turn, Jorge Sanz will again be at the helm of the ladies’ Movistar Team in the 136km Strade Bianche Women Elite, including thirty-one kilometers of ‘sterrato’. Alicia González, our third-place finisher in the Setmana Valenciana, will put a backnumber on again together with two of her team-mates in Spain, Alba Teruel and Lourdes Oyarbide, as well as the Blues’ three experienced, foreign riders: Rachel Neylan, Aude Biannic and Małgorzata Jasińska.
