Both men and women racing on Friday

Title holder Oyarbide and García back from injuries at tough course in Vall d'Alba; Valverde leads Blues in men's event.

Up to thirteen riders from the Movistar Team’s two squads will line up at Vall d’Alba, in the interior of the Castellón province, on Friday to take part in the time trials of the Spanish Championships, held in the Comunitat Valenciana this weekend.

All Spanish riders of the women’s outfit led by Jorge Sanz will compete at the lumpy 19.5-kilometer parcours for the elite and under-23 competitors (from 12pm), with two important members coming back to racing: Mavi García, fully recovered and back in good sharpe after her injury in Liège, and Lourdes Oyarbide, winner of the 2017 event and carrying bib #1 just four days after receiving the green light from doctors in Pamplona to go back racing, following her rib and collarbonr fractures at the Emakumeen Euskal Bira. Gloria Rodríguez, Eider Merino, Alba Teruel, Alicia González and Lorena Llamas complete the seven-woman squad.

In turn, at the men’s elite UCI race (37.5km; first rider off at 5pm), Alejandro Valverde -winner in Ponferrada, in 2014- will be the Blues’ main reference into a youthful group. Héctor Carretero, Jorge Arcas, Jaime Castrillo, Rubén Fernández and Víctor de la Parte will also defend the Blue colours at the Nationals, just before some other team-mates join them for the road race on Sunday.
