Remains for two further years

Paris-Nice winner to stay with Telefónica-backed squad through end of 2021 season - adds two seasons to current bond with Blues.

The Movistar Team confirms it has reached an agreement with Catalan youngster Marc Soler to prolong the contract linking the Spaniard to his home WorldTour outfit through the end of next year. The new bond will see Soler staying in Blue colours until the end of the 2021 season.

Soler (Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona; 1993) has become one of the biggest confirmations in top-tier cycling in the last few months. A good climber and excellent time trialist, his courage and talent allowed him claiming overall honours in last March’s Paris-Nice race, a long-range attack (more than 50 kilometers) on the final stage seeing the Spaniard jumping from sixth to first overall.

A debutant in three-week stageraces at last year’s Vuelta a España, where he led many breakaways and was the last man standing against Alberto Contador en route to the Madrilian’s final victory atop L’Angliru, Soler rode his maiden Tour de France in 2018. At the ‘Grande Boucle’, Marc shone as a domestique for his team leaders and crowned three weeks of overall good level with an excellent 9th place in the TT showdown in Espelette.
