Rainbow jersey holder to make maiden appearance in new colours

World Champion to attend big event together with three other Movistar Team members: Mavi García, Lourdes Oyarbide and Eusebio Unzué.

Sunday 7th October will mark a very special edition of the ‘Fiesta de la Bici Movistar’ (Movistar’s Bike Festival), as the new UCI World Road Race Champion Alejandro Valverde will be pedaling alongside thousands of fans up and down the famous Paseo de la Castellana.

A tradition of the Spanish capital, which will be reaching 40 editions in 2018, the ‘Fiesta de la Bici’ will see people young and ole enjoying together a day of sport. The start will be given at Madrid’s Plaza de Colón, at 9am, with a tribute to Valverde being followed by a first lap with the rainbow jersey, joined by big names such as Pedro Delgado, Eusebio Unzué, Mavi García and Lourdes Oyarbide.

The route is a series of gentle straights, allowing all participants joining or leaving the route as they wish, with a finish line set up at the Plaza de Neptuno. Several feed zones and technical assistance points will be available, as well as ‘lively areas’ with music and other activies for the families to enjoy their morning.

Movistar clients will also enjoy many surprises and giveaways if they sign up at the event’s website. Once again, the organisers advise to use a helmet during their ride (which is compulsory for those aged under 18), to be cautious when on downhill sections and crowded sectors, and respect the traffic rules in force when they go into open roads.

The ‘Fiesta de la Bici Movistar’ is part of the #RodamosJuntos movement, looking to ask drivers and riders better and more respectful coexistence on the roads.
