Analysis

Mikel Landa’s return to racing, 46 days after his crash and injuries in the Clásica San Sebastián, will be the main point of attention for the Movistar Team at the 90th Giro della Toscana, a race which kicked off as a multi-day event in 2016 and will return to its classic format -the one it had prior to returning to the calendar after 2007- in 2018.

It will be a 201km course starting and finishing in Pontedera; actually, it will be a mixture of three long loops (55km each) with a short point-to-point section in the beginning. The main attraction of this route will be one of the region’s most demanding climbs, the Monte Serra, more than 9km at 7% avg. gradient. Its final passage, crested 27km from the end, could squeeze the bunch of favourites or even avoid a bunch sprint.
