Analysis

The Movistar Team will be closing a great month of July for the Blues in the UCI Women’s WorldTour with the 5th edition of La Course, a race organised by ASO (Tour de France). The event will, in many cases -plenty of riders doubling efforts; five Movistar Team riders racing both in Italy and France-, act as ‘stage 11’ of the Giro Rosa, finishing less than 48 hours prior in Cividale del Friuli.

The Alpine race, held as a classic in 2018 on a morning schedule, will be a very mountainous 112.5km course between Annecy and Le Grand-Bornand, starting and finishing points of stage 10 of the Tour de France. The climbs of Bluffy (Cat-4) and Saint-Jean-de-Sixt (Cat-2) will preceed a monstruous chain of final ascents, set to create big fireworks in the bunch: Romme (Cat-1; 8.8km at 8.9%) and Colombière (Cat-1; 7.5km at 8.5%), the latter crested just 14km from the end of the race.
