At the road race, and as a way to counter TTT gaps and keep them from being too decisive, there will be plenty of bonuses: 5-2-1" at the end of laps 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14, plus 15-10-5" at the finish. That is, a maximum 50".

Analysis

The Movistar Team will be wrapping up its calendar of appearances in the 2018 UCI Women’s WorldTour and at the Spanish calendar with the Madrid Challenge by La Vuelta, whose fourth edition will feature a transformation into a multi-day event with the inclusion of a team time trial (14km, Saturday 15th September) in Boadilla del Monte, few kilometers to the southwest of Spain’s capital city.

The advantage achieved by the strongest squad on that mainly flat course will have to be countered by the top sprinters at the Madrid circuit around Cibeles, Colón, Prado and Recoletos (Sunday 16th), which has been extended for 2018 (100km, 17 laps) and offers a singular bonifications scheme (see specific section of this Guide) to avoid the GC podium being swept by the winning team from Saturday.
