Analysis

The 73rd Circuito de Getxo – 18th Memorial Ricardo Otxoa (UCI 1.1) has enlarged their semi-urban circuit course, yet keeping its essences unchanged. In 2018, riders will have to cover 18.5 kilometers -and ten laps, just like in previous seasons- of a rolling course in the coastal part of Bizkaia, through the aforementioned Getxo, Berango and Leioa towns.

The extension of the Basque race’s loop -with three little bumps before the finish, one of them at 5% over 400m- makes for a longer separation of the climbs to the decisive Txomintxu hill, a short ascent accessed through a twiste approach alongside the Arriluze dock and the Ereaga beach. After a sharp, 180-degree turn right, the closing 700m uphill start: up to 10% in its early part, then 5 to 6% in the decisive meters.
