Timetable

With stage 17 of the Tour de France being so short, there won't be any time clashes between the Prueba Villafranca and the 'Grande Boucle'. The race will start at 10am local and finish around 2pm.

Analysis

The 95th edition of the Clásica de Ordizia, the first summer race for the Movistar Team on their road of the Vuelta a España, keeps alive the event with the most history of all raced in Spain. Always held coinciding with the village’s yearly celebrations, on July 25th, the also-known-as Prueba Villafranca will feature a classic, recognisable route: 165km with chances for both climbers, punchy classics specialists or event sprinters.

The race comprises two circuits. The first one includes three climbs of the Alto de Abaltzisketa, a 3km ascent with constant slopes around 7%. The second, starting 70km from the end, combines that climb with two ascents to Altzo, around 2.5km with more irregular gradients, reaching 15% maximum and averaging just under 6%. Abaltzisketa will be the last climb, 11km from a slightly uphill finish.
