Amstel Gold Race
114.9 Kilometers
The Movistar Team opens another big, important part of their debut season, one to continue learning, growing and -hopefully- getting some good results. For the first time, the squad directed by Jorge Sanz will take part in the ‘hills trilogy‘, a series of three tough races -arguably some of the most difficult in the entire WorldTour-, which, at least in the case of the Dutch event, contain no room for respite nor long flat roads between ascents -17 included in this 116km race-.
Differently to the men’s race, the women’s Amstel Gold does repeat in its finale the classic course from the 2012 World Championships, with three climbs of the Geulhemmerberg and the Bemelerberg and up to four ascents to the Cauberg -which, in this case, does make part of the finale, crested for the final time with just 2km to go- inside the last 70km of racing. Before that, there will be plenty of tough terrain, featuring three other tough hills which will surely create an initial selection: Eyserbosweg (45km), Fromberg (49km) and Keutenberg (53km).
