Male Team 16 - 21 Oct
Tour of Guangxi
910 Kilometers 6 Stages
The Movistar Team will be wrapping up its 2018 season with the 2nd edition of the Tour of Guangxi, a six-day event in this Chinese autonomous region -next to the Vietnamese border- which also puts an end into the UCI WorldTour’s schedule for this year. Its rolling, not excessively mountainous routes mean the race is, above all, an opportunity for the sprinters to score victories, even though the overall classification will still remain in the hands of the stronger climbers.
The ascent towards the Mashan Nongla scenic area (3.2km at 7.3%) will decide the race on Friday 19th, the event still holding no less than five chances for the fastest men in the peloton. Three of them will be clear -with easy finishes in Beihai (Tuesday 16th), Qinzhou (Wednesday 17th) and Nanning (Thursday 18th)-, while the last two will demand a bigger effort. Stage five on Saturday 20th will take the peloton through four rated ascents in a very respectable -even more so at this time of the year- 212km towards Guilin, the city which will host the final loop (Sunday 21) with two Cat-3 and Cat-2 climbs.
