Analysis

Just like in the Movistar Team’s official debut as a squad at the Setmana Valenciana, the Telefónica-backed squad will be racing on Saturday 21st April at home of one of its riders: the town of Torre Pacheco, where Gloria Rodríguez was born and raised. The village of Roldán inside the municipality will be hosting the 14th edition of one of Spain’s best known races, only Murcia stop of the National Racing Series and opening event of a weekend of competitions in the region, to be closed a day later with  the first ever Vuelta a Murcia.

The towns of Hortichuela, Jimenado and Torre Pacheco itself will be part of a 22-kilometer circuit, to be covered four times. It’s almost entirely flat, with just one gentle ascent northbound and towards the finish. The strength of the crosswinds blowing around the zone -which should otherwise be ridden on dry roads- and the fighting spirit of the riders taking part are the only elements which could play against a bunch sprint like the one at Caspe the week before.
