Analysis

As Paris-Roubaix went into an expected postponement last week, the first edition of the Scheldeprijs turns into the final stop for this year’s second Belgian tournée of the women’s Movistar Team. It’s a new race in the calendar, with a long history as a men’s event, which serves as a race for the sprinters in the middle of the cobbled Monuments.

Such a character remains intact for the women’s GP Scheldt -such is the English name, referencing one of Belgium’s main rivers-, whose 136km comprise an initial loop of around eighty kilometers plus a final circuit, with three laps of 16km each. It’s not a difficult race when it comes to its profile; it might be so due to the wind and the technical difficulties and road furniture always present at Flemish races. However, a big group should reach Schoten’s finish together.
