Analysis

The Community of Villages of the Bajo Andarax area, located in northwestern Almería, southern Spain, will host the second round of the 2019 Spanish women’s National Series, led in the elite and under-23 categories by Blue members Lorena Llamas and Paula Patiño after their fantastic performance in Eibar. The route will also be again favourable to the Movistar Team’s interest, as the event offers the first mountain-top finish since the Telefónica-backed outfit first raced in this competition.

The event will be significantly longer than most Copa de España races: 106km, with a double loop around Santa Fé de Mondújar and a finish in Sierra Alhamilla (Cat-2), in the town of Pechina. The ascents of Los Millares and Las Parricas (both Cat-3) will add some hardness before the 7km, 5% avg. gradient, final climb.
