Bretagne Classic - Plouay
247.8 Kilometers
In the middle of an agitated week of racing in Brittany, as the 2020 European Road Championships are held in the area, takes place the 84th edition of the Bretagne Classic, the race always known as GP Plouay and marking, despite the pandemic, the big WorldTour appointment for one of the most cycling-passionate regions in Europe.
Since the event changed its name in 2016, the Bretagne Classic is more of a road race, out northbound -towards the Saint-Brieuc area- and back for a final circuit different to previous years. Instead of climbing Ty-Marrec just before the end, the riders will tackle the Côte du Pont-Neuf (1.5km, 4.2%), with its top just 2km from the end. The ‘new’ (used in the 1970s) ascent will be combined in the local laps with the côtes of Lezot (1.4km, 3.9%) and Lann Payot (1.3km, 2.6%), offering a chance to both the sprinters and the attackers in the venue of the 2000 World Championships.
