Back into the calendar after a year’s absence in 2020 due to the hardest wave of the pandemic, the Vuelta CyL celebrates its 35th edition in 2021 turning into a one-day race, held actually in the middle of the summer as it was usual in its first few editions.
The Spanish race will keep the country’s series of pre-La Vuelta events alive, featuring this time a 181km course from León to Ponferrada which suits all kinds of riders.
The hardest difficult of the day will be halfway through the parcours, with the Alto de Foncebadón (Cat-2) crested after 93.8km. The riders will then head towards the Bierzo area and the finish, to cover a final circuit resembling the 2014 Worlds course, including three climbs to Montearenas (4km at 4%) and as many to Compostilla (1.2km at 6%).
