After announcing, before the start of La Vuelta, the new contract linking Miguel Ángel López and the Movistar Team for the next two seasons, the Telefónica-backed squad confirmed Monday six other names from its current roster will stay with the team until the end of 2023: German Juri Hollmann, Colombian Einer Rubio, Portuguese Nelson Oliveira and Spaniards Antonio Pedrero, Jorge Arcas and Carlos Verona.

A big part of the Blues’ core for the last few years will continue to wear the Spanish outfit’s jersey, having been key for great results at the Grand Tours in the past. Arcas made his TDF debut in 2021, following several appearances in La Vuelta; Pedrero contributed to the 2019 Giro win and shone in the mountains in his last two ‘Corsa Rosa’ presences -as well as notching up his first two pro wins at this year’s La Route d’Occitanie-; Oliveira, an Olympian again in the Tokyo time trial, has been part of the Blues’ roster for La Vuelta during the last five years, other than a regular in the Tour; and Verona has become one of the most respected domestiques in the world with his brilliant performances in France and Spain -he also finished 2nd last Friday atop the Balcón de Alicante-.

Alongside those four will remain two of the Movistar Team’s biggest talents Rubio (23), who was definitely unleashed his potential in the last few weeks -2nd in Neila; remarkable in Poland; a strong Giro debut in 2020- and Hollmann (who will turn only 22 in August 30th), always working hard for the team while also shining as a time trialist -3rd at the recent, decisive ITT of the Volta a Portugal in Viseu-.

The Movistar Team will make more announcements on contract extensions for both of its women’s and men’s rosters in the upcoming weeks.
