Addition for next season

Anglo-Italian set to add his experience and skills - more than ten years as DS for WorldTour and development squads - to Eusebio Unzué's group, starting in 2019.

The Movistar Team announces Maximilian Sciandri (1967) will join the Eusebio Unzué-led WorldTour outfit as sports director, starting in the upcoming 2019 season.

Sciandri, a Briton born in Derby who has lived for many decades in Tuscany, Italy -he holds dual citizenship-, has spent more than ten years as part of coaching staff in two different structures since he retired from pro racing in 2004 -stage victories in the Giro and the Tour + bronze medalist in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics-. Following a long tenure as under-23 director of the British Cycling Academy, Max joined the BMC Racing Team in 2011, where he has directed many legends of the sport for the past eight years.

Sciandri’s arrival will reinforce the technical strength of the Telefónica-backed team, which currently has José Luis ArrietaChente García Acosta, José Luis Jaimerena as Pablo Lastras as sports directors of the men’s squad, plus Jorge Sanz at the helm of the women’s roster.
