Tour Colombia (st. 2)

La escuadra 'telefónica' evita las caídas en el circuito de Sogamoso y Duitama y concluye con sus seis hombres en el gran grupo, donde se impuso Molano (UAD). Sigue Caicedo (EF1) como líder.

Barely over three hours were required from the peloton of the 2020 Tour Colombia 2020 to cover the 152km circuit race of stage two, around Paipa, Sogamoso and a finishing straight in Duitama where Sebastián Molano (UAD) came victorious. The inevitable sprint saw the Movistar Team riders avoiding setbacks before more suited stages for them in the weekend.

Verona, Sepúlveda, Jorgenson and locals Rubio, Alba and Betancur rode as one man over the entire stage, keeping the front of a bunch which only sustained a significant crash in one of the passages through Sogamoso, 25km before the end. The incident did not bring any major troubles to the Telefónica-backed squad, which finished inside the main peloton. Ecuadorian Jonathan Caicedo (EF1) remains in the GC lead.

The Latin American race, which is starting every day from Paipa until Saturday, will be covering three near-identical, lumpy opening courses from Thursday, about hundred kilometers in length, over the climbs of Moral and Tierra Negra, only changing its finish. Sogamoso will be the end of stage three, again on flatter routes near the end, for a total 177km.
