There will be daily highlights on Eurosport.
The Mallorca Challenge celebrates its first 30 years of existence with two visible changes. The first one will be its dates, having to be postponed from a late January slot due to the pandemic. The second one: the city of Palma will not be visited by the peloton, though riders will be getting close on day one. What remains intact, in any case, is the race route, with short courses full of ascents where the climbers -other than on the final race (Sunday 16th), the Trofeo Alcudia, for sprinters– will have a big share of protagonism.
Six climbs will be tackled on the way from Peguera to Palmanova, Thursday 13th, at the Trofeo Calvià, with a series of short, non-categorized climbs in the finale making for a wide-open finish. Friday 14th will take the riders over an ‘easier’ Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana than in previous years, still climbing Femenies (Cat-2), Puig Major (Cat-2) and Bleda (Cat-3) near the end. Saturday 135h, in turn, will take the peloton back to the top of the Mirador d’Es Colomer in the Trofeo Andratx, with a tougher side of the Puig Major (Cat-1).
** As usual, we remind our not-so-expert fans that the Challenge is a series of four separate events (UCI 1.1), not a stagerace, which means that the startlist changes every day. We will inform you on the lineup for every trophy at our Twitter profile and the news articles on our website.
