Glucovibes: A new tool to expand the Movistar Team’s performance

New sponsor

Basque company to supply its technology with an aim at centralising all relevant info from each rider into intelligent app, seeking performance improvements through AI and metabolic data.

Glucovibes, a new sponsor of the Movistar Team for 2024, will support the Telefónica-backed squad with its integration of activity, nutrition, rest and physiological data, including heart rate and glucose values, measured through sensors that the riders will use at training and team camps to register into the brand’s intelligent application.

Thanks to the Glucovibes app, the Movistar Team’s performance staff will be able to follow each rider remotely and define tailor-made strategies, seeking to finetune every aspect of their performance with precise nutritional guidelines.

Through Glucovibes’ algorithms, each athlete will have its metabolic profile elaborated and divided into different sections, depending on the time of day and the ‘pillars’: nutrition, activity and rest. Also, Glucovibes allows every metabolic system to be calibrated through its own, extensive metabolic database, composed by nearly 1 million hours of metabolic data.

Glucovibes is a technology-based company established in San Sebastián, Spain, founded in 2021, which has developed a ‘metabolic GPS’ where every person can gather all information about its sporting lifestyle. Its intelligent algorithms, together with the brand’s sports science team, are able to generate precise nutrition guidelines which get every person closer to their goals. Other than sporting objectives, other uses for the app are hormone management, weight control and general wellness.

The Basque company has the largest European metabolic info database from healthy people, with scientific contributions which reinforce the brand’s work and increase research rigurosity. Glucovibes has the ‘innovative company’ seals from both the Spanish Government’s Ministry for Science and Innovation and the respective department from the provincial council of Gipuzkoa. During 2023, it has been recognised as Best Technology-Based New Company in the Basque Country at the Toribio Echevarría Prizes, which support entrepreneurship in the region.

The partnership with Glucovibes is a further step for our team in our quest for excellence in the sport and marginal improvements which always determine success in cycling. Their technology will help us be more precise in the integral preparation of our riders,” says Juan Pablo Molinero, CMO for the Movistar Team.

We’re so enthusiastic about this agreement, and we’re fully aware of what we’ll be demanded from the team. This partnership gets together technological avantgarde and sports expertise from the team. Our technologies will help them find more precision and customise their work better, and we hope we can bring some good added value to the table. Glucovibes not only fosters sporting excellence, but also reinforces both companies’ commitment to health and overall wellness, as well as innovation and scientific thoroughness. It’s our way to support Spanish sports,” explains Alberto Conde Mellado, founder of Glucovibes and director for the company’s Science and AI department.
