Flèche Wallonne
195.5 Kilometers
The relocation of the race’s start in Ans, finish of Liège-Bastogne-Liege until 2018, is the first of only two main changes in the 2019 Flèche Wallonne, still gathering all of its spice inside the final 1.3km, at 9.6% average, of the Mur de Huy. A hill which has seen Alejandro Valverde becoming its all-time record holder (five wins), to be tackled three times into a final circuit very much known by all competitors.
The final loop doesn’t actually start in Huy, as it did in 2018, rather than prior to the two ascents preceeding the Mur. Ereffe (2.1km at 5%) and Cherave (1.3km at 8.1%) are significant enough to play as venue for some serious attacks before the end, yet not too hard -or such have been the previous results in this circuit- to avoid one of the most famous uphill sprints in the UCI calendar.
