After a double hernia to his back sustained earlier in the 2024 season that forced him to skip the Giro d’Italia, the Movistar Team is happy to welcome Ruben Guerreiro back into racing, step by step in his recovery. The first opportunity for the Portuguese ace will be the Tour de l’Ain, which is surprisingly held during the ‘Grande Boucle’, something unthinkable just few years ago when cycling wasn’t as diverse as nowadays.
It’s an interesting route on French soil, with an inevitable sprint in Bourg-en-Bresse (Saturday 13th) followed by two mountainous stages will nearly 3,000m elevation gain each. On Sunday 14th, Giron (Cat-2) and most importantly Menthières (Cat-1) will define the GC contention field before the showdown on Monday 15th, over eight rated ascents and a final circuit including 2x the Côte de Berthiand (Cat-2), last crested with just 11km to go.
