German powerhouse from Movistar Team shows good legs into Belmont Hill, looks ready to take on Britain's little ascents in eight-day stagerace through next Sunday.
German André Greipel (LTS) narrowly bested Australia’s Caleb Ewan (MTS) to take the first leader’s jersey of the 2018 of Britain, whose opening 174km covered rolling, beautiful roads in Wales and the Brecon Beacons National Park, from Pembrey to Newport.
André Greipel (LTS) gana al sprint la 1ª etapa del #OVOToB en Newport. A falta de confirmación, todos los Movistar Team terminan en el primer grupo.

The Movistar Team covered the day’s racing with no incident as all of its six riders finished inside an 80-man lead group, having tried to put numbers at the front into the decisive climb of Belmont Hill -located just 8km from the end-. Jasha Sütterlin unfruitfully tried to enter a dangerous break of four riders, which Bob Jungels (QST) extended until the last 2km.
The Luxembourgish champion was reached down by a bunch looking for the mass sprint, where Sütterlin (14th) and Carlos Barbero (18th) finished into a second echelon of contenders. Monday will be another chance for them with the 175km stage two, including the Challacombe Hill climb just twenty-one kilometers from Barnstaple’s finish.
