Male Team 26 - 28 Apr Vuelta Asturias
Vuelta Asturias
519 Kilometers 3 Stages
There will be 10-6-4″ at stage finishes, plus 3-2-1″ at the ‘Metas Volantes’.
Some interesting changes to the Vuelta Asturias for its 66th edition as, for the first time in a generation, the race will visit the east of this historical region, even offering the sprinters a chance – though the climbers remain the absolute protagonists of the event.
The Queen stage will undoubtedly be the opener on Friday 26th, finishing -which is actually a tradition- in Pola de Lena, after five rated climbs including the Cordal (Cat-1) near the end.
A day later (Saturday 27th), the peloton will cover around 2,500m elevation gain -following the 3,600m the stage prior-, yet the last 40km towards Ribadesella will be flat. The showdown on Sunday 28th will see the bunch take on the grueling El Violeo (Cat-2) before finishing down in the capital, Oviedo.
