Analysis

The Community of Madrid will be the venue – just like in 2018 – for the Movistar Team’s last race together, the Blues’ calendar officially ending with the Tour de l’Ardèche -held simultaneously with this Madrid Challenge- and the World Championships in Yorkshire.

The Spanish race’s route is almost a carbon copy from last year, with a notable difference: the team time trial in Boadilla is replaced by an ITT (Saturday 14th), 9.3 kilometers long, with gentle climbs and some technical sections in an otherwise flat, easy course.

Madrid’s Plaza de Cibeles (Sunday 15th) will put an end to the race, with 16 laps (98km) of a very well-known circuit which has sometimes avoided a sprint finish, just like in 2018.
