Giro della Toscana
182.9 Kilometers
Two days after the end of Tirreno-Adriatico, the peloton not taking part in the Tour de France will be back in Tuscany, resuming what traditionally was a vast, beautiful Italian semiclassics calendar, this time reduced to three races in September. To kick things off, a long-standing event, the Giro della Toscana, which reaches its 92nd edition in 2020 with a route not as demanding as in previous editions, quite open to different kinds of riders.
The 182km in and around Pontedera is quite flat, yet it includes three ascents to Peccioli, the climb featured at the Coppa Sabatini a day later, over 1.1km at 6.3%. The last two climbs are located 29km and 17km from the finish, respectively, which makes them the main hurdle for a bunch sprint.
