Movistar Team leader resumes full training program after overcoming a stress fracture, which kept her out of the bike for several weeks.
The Movistar Team awaits with enthusiasm for the 2024 debut of its women’s squad’s leader, Liane Lippert. The German road race champion sustained in December, in the beginning of her preparations for her second season with the Blues, an injury she’s now happily recovered from.
A stress fracture to her right hip forced Lippert to stop training and delay her racing debut. Following a period of rest and rehab, and with medical checkups confirming her recovery, Liane was able to resume training with no limitations in late February.
Lippert’s physical evolution will determine her schedule back, with no firm plans established at this time, yet the German’s sights and main goals for 2024 remain the biggest races of the summer.
REACTION – Liane Lippert: ”It’s been a difficult time for me, but in the end I think it’s made me stronger, because I also had time to work on many other things, on and off the bike, that could help me long-term. I’m still on track to tackle all of my big goals for the season, I’ll be able to cover all of them, and hopefully I’ll be fresher than other riders who had to train so hard for the spring classics. With good focus, I’ll be back really strong, and I’m really motivated for what’s coming up this season. I’m happy to have had everyone from the team – the riders, the staff, the medical team – around me, supporting me in this difficult time, and I’m grateful to them and really looking forward to finding them back at races soon.”
