Analysis

Without leaving arguably the most monumental region in Italy following last Sunday’s start of the first of two late-season Italian ‘tournées’ -the other one set to start in the Giro dell’Emilia and cover all the way to Il Lombardia-, the Movistar Team competes at the Giro della Toscana – Memorial Alfredo Martini over a course starkly suited for the climbers.

The two climbs of the Monte Serra -just over 8km at 7%- will be crested for the last time with 28km remaining, the latter section over a long descent and flat towards the finish Pontedera. Small groups usually make it to the line, so a final punch is as much needed as power uphill.
