FULL COMMITMENT UPHILL. Generous teamwork and class at the toughest races are the main characteristics of Davide Formolo, who lands in the Movistar Team with no less than a decade of WorldTour experience under his belt. Raised in San Rocco di Marano di Valpolicella, near the Lago di Garda, he’s always defined himself as a climber for all kinds of stageraces – without losing sight of the most demanding one-day events in the calendar.
TOP-QUALITY VICTORIES. Six wins are part of Davide’s palmarès so far – and such important ones! The National Championships, the always coveted ‘tricolore’, were his at the 2019 edition of the event in Compiano. He also claimed a stage of the Giro d’Italia, at no less than his first appearance (2015), on stage four in La Spezia; and WorldTour success was also obtained by Formolo in Dauphiné -2020; mountain-top finish in Saint-Martin de Belleville- and Catalunya -2019, Barcelona / Montjuïc, ahead of current team-mate Mas-. His palmarès also features prestigious second-place finishes in Liège (2019) and Strade Bianche (2020).
A GREAT END OF 2023. His jump onto the Movistar Team happened after arguably his best streak of results to date, a very prolific last month of the year. Two victories were claimed by Formolo over those weeks, both solo, after team exhibitions from UAE: the Coppa Agostoni and a very beautiful one on home roads at the Veneto Classic, his last competitive event for the Emirati roster.
