Carlos Canal

Young and solid in all terrains

PRECOCIOUS. A Spanish junior champion in both cyclo-cross and mountain bike racing with strong Galician club Maceda -the one that first saw him pinning a number on his back as under-15-, Carlos Canal opened back a way with so many teams and riders have recently followed: jumping from junior to pros with no amateur stage in between. Burgos – BH added to its ranks, during the challenging 2020 season, a rider who soon started taking solid steps within the pros while still racing in CX -his last year on the mud- and MTB.

GETTING USED TO THE NEW LEVEL. From that early debut, Canal has always gone up. In 2021, he had the chance of racing La Vuelta for the first time, and a year later, changing purple for Euskaltel – Euskadi quintessential orange, he started bringing good results to the debut: featured in Oman and his beloved O Gran Camiño; won the KOM jersey at the Tour de Bretagne; and started excelling in scenarios as diverse as the sprints -even in La Vuelta- or time trials -top-ten in the Nationals-.

THE LEAP FORWARD AT THE RIGHT MOMENT. A student of Industrial Organisation Engineering at the La Rioja International University (UNIR), Carlos undoubtedly experienced his breakthrough as a road cyclist in 2023, where he only missed a maiden pro win. 3rd at a stage of the Orlen Nations Cup race in Poland and another one in Langkawi; 6th at the Galicia ITT and one of the Challenge Mallorca trophies – not to forget about his excellent U23 Worlds in Glasgow, always in the front groups to take 11th place.
