GP Dottignies
122.4 Kilometers
It will be a ‘Ronde van Vlaanderen-hangover’ for the women’s Movistar Team, as they tackle the final race of their first round of classics in northen Europe with a UCI 1.2 event sparsed into two provinces: the Walloon Hainaut and West Vlaanderen. The GP Dottignies is a circuit event -122km, six laps between the towns of Warcoing, Pecq, Kooigem and the one giving its name to the race- which is usually decided into a bunch sprint.
It’s not strange because, other than the cobblestones of the Kooigemsestraat -on slight uphill- and the numerous turns and corners in the cities, the race is almost completely flat not much of a technical course. It will be down to the racing pace and any chances of strong winds and rain which should add, combined with last Sunday’s effort for some, what makes this race harder.
