Analysis

In a land really unknown to professional cycling, an area in Wallonia literally next to the French border which was only neared in now-not-so-recent times by the defunct Critérium International -when it took place in Charléville-Mézières-, the 5th Tour de la Semois -a modest (UCI 2.2) event in Belgium- offers the Movistar Team a chance to see the Blue climbers shine and go for glory.

The two-stage event features plenty of hard terrain. On Friday 20th, riders will get to Vresse-sur-Semois after seven rated ascents, including two climbs of the Col du Conrad (2.3km at 7.5%), the last one with just 13km to the end. On Sunday 21st, the race comes to its close in Bertrix, with eight climbs and a dual effort up la Maljoyeuse (1km, 8.7%) crested just seven kilometers before the finish.
