Rojas still contesting sprints in Australia
18 January 2011

The 13th edition of the Santos Tour Down Under, the opening race of the 2011 UCI World Tour, took its curtain up. After Sunday’s début in a speedy Cancer Council Classic in Adelaide, the riders covered a 138km trek from Mawson Lakes to Angaston, with few news for the Movistar Team riders.

The good teamwork all over the day to bring José Joaquín Rojas, the team’s big hope for the day, on front at the end of the race led to another top-ten finish in the final sprint, notched by Tasmanian Matthew Goss. The good feelings were the day’s positive note overall. “The guys are doing perfectly, everyone’s collaborating at the right moment,” explained team’s Sports Director José Luis Arrieta from Australia. “The finish is always sort of a lottery, but we’re going to keep trying.”
