24 March 2011

The most competitively active weekend since Movistar Team started off with their season will take all 24 available riders from the telephone squad -Rubén Plaza is already resting at home from his recent injury- to compete simultaneously on the roads of France, Belgium and Spain.

While Tondo, Rojas, Intxausti, Pasamontes, Soler, Erviti, Iriarte and Fran Pérez ride this weekend directed by José Luis Arrieta in the two final stages of the Volta a Catalunya, whose curtain went up on Monday, a second block from the team will be travelling to the island of Corsica on Friday to race in the 80th Critérium International. The French stagerace will be keeping its usual two-day, three-stage format, with a mountain stage -seven categorized climbs- on Saturday and a double sector on Sunday, with a flat course in the early morning and a 7.8km individual time trial in the afternoon. Yvon Ledanois will be leading a roster composed by David Arroyo, Marzio Bruseghin, Iván Gutiérrez, Vasil Kiryienka, David López, Sergio Pardilla, Jesús Herrada and Branislau Samoilau.

To complete the busy schedule for Movistar Team this weekend, a third group is heading into Belgium to compete in the 73rd Gent-Wevelgem on Sunday, the UCI World Tour classic seeing Fran Ventoso, Andrey Amador, Chente García Acosta, Pablo Lastras, Ángel Madrazo, Ignatas Konovalovas, Carlos Oyarzun and Enrique Sanz participate, conducted by José Luis Jaimerena.
