Three kilometers before the mountains
26 April 2011

The 65th Tour de Romandie got started on Tuesday with a short prologue of just 3.5 kilometers in Martigny, in the day preceeding the first and only mountain-top finish of the Swiss race.

Spaniard Jonathan Castroviejo (EUS) was the fastest over less than four minutes’ effort to claim the first leader jersey, while youngster Herrada, David López, Intxausti, Chente García Acosta and Konovalovas finished around ten seconds behind for Movistar Team, which suffered misfortune today as Portuguese Rui Costa crashed during his ride, still having no more than small bruises. Wednesday will hold a 172km mountainous ride with the ascents of the Col de Pillon (Cat. 1) and the finish on top of Leysin’s resort (Cat. 1), both in the decisive part of the race.
