Route du Sud sets Pirenaic TdF test
14 June 2011

The last test has come for the riders of Movistar Team before the national championships and the Tour de France. With two soft routes and two high-mountain stages, the 35th Route du Sud will be held over the same Pirenaic roads that will host some of the decisive stages in the Grande Boucle weeks after.

The telephone squad will line up with Vasil Kiryienka, David Arroyo, Sergio Pardilla, Luis Pasamontes and Carlos Oyarzun -all five back into racing after the Giro d’Italia-, plus Fran Pérez, Javier Iriarte and Enrique Sanz, all directed by Yvon Ledanois.

The route offers four stages, with two demanding routes expected to be the key point of the race: on Friday, the ascents of Aspin, Tourmalet and the finish atop the non-categorized Cauterets; and on Saturday, with the climbs of the Col de Menté and the Port de Balès, the latter one located just 20k from the finish line.
