All set to be decided in the Lagunas

The traditional Queen stage atop Neila will define the final outcome of the Vuelta a Burgos, where Movistar Team lost overall chances by Pardilla in a nervous stage 4 on Saturday After the enormous joy of notching up the stage victory in the 2011 Vuelta a Burgos team time trial, Movistar Team found a bittersweet taste today after stage 4 in the Castilian race, with 168 kilometers from Roa de Duero to the brandnew finish of the Roman City of Clunia. The race, marked by sidewinds in the decisive points, always saw Movistar Team's block attentive on front. The riders directed by José luis Arrieta even tried to break the peloton to profit from their figure superiority and clear the bunch for Fran Ventoso's chances, the Spaniard eventually not bearing the hardness of the uphill finish.

However, just over 15k from the finish, the group was split into two with a crash that, fortunately with no major consequences, affected Beñat Intxausti. Sergio Pardilla, 2nd overall until today, was left into the second group, and despite efforts from teammates Herrada and Chente García Acosta, he could not make it back to the fore and lost his privileged position in the GC. Not so unlucky were David López and Pablo Lastras -3rd across the finish-, now sitting in second and third into the rankings as both Rodríguez (KAT) and Movistar Team keep their respective leaderships. The race will head into its Queen stage tomorrow, with the HC climb of the Lagunas de Neila preceeded by four other categorized ascents.
