Javi Moreno and José Herrada will ride for the next two years with the telephone squad after great performances during the last seasons
Movistar Team keep reinforcing their roster for the next season, and after the signing by Italian champion Giovanni Visconti, the squad announces the signing for the next two years of Spaniards Javier Moreno and José Herrada, both coming from the Caja Rural team.
Moreno (Jaén, 27) has ridden for six years in the pro bunch, the first two into Conti squads Nicolás Mateos and Extremadura and the three following in the Andalucía-CajaSur ProConti team. Moreno has gained quality with a constant progression that allowed him winning a big race in 2011, with the Queen stage and the overall classification in the Vuelta a Asturias as best result of a season where he also claimed 2nd in the GC of the Vuelta a Madrid, won by now-teammate Rui Costa. U23 Spanish champion as a youngster, his climbing abilities and good rendement in all terrains -he’s the best Spaniard in the current UCI Europe Tour ranking- have made him earn a deserved place into a top-tier squad.
In turn, José Herrada (Mota del Cuervo, 25), an older brother of Jesús, one of the biggest hopefuls at Movistar Team and in Spanish cycling, also finds the reward to a career very similar to Moreno’s. With two opening years at Conti squad Viña Magna –stage winner in the Tour de l’Avenir and 2nd in the Tour des Pyrénées with only 21 years old- and two other seasons at Contentpolis before comingo into Caja Rural last year, the Spaniard has always shone due to his regularity, which allowed him accumulate top-ten places in most of the 5-day events in Spanish, not to forget his great performances in a 2-week race like the Vuelta a Portugal, where he notched up a spectacular stage victory in 2010.
