Ready for Ardennes challenge

The Amstel Gold Race on Sunday opens the trio of classics completed by the Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège next week. Valverde, Visconti, Rojas lead strong eight-man roster

One of the longest awaited moments of Movistar Team’s 2012 season has come. After their great performances in the first part of the season, the Ardennes classics see the squad managed by Eusebio Unzué bring a strong block for the 47th Amstel Gold Race. The Blue squad will be led by Alejandro Valverde, already winner of the Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the other two races completing the tour across Belgium and the Netherlands on Wednesday 18 and Sunday 22. 

Alongside Valverde, the two national road champions will be present at the Ardennes, with both Giovanni Visconti (ITA) and José Joaquín Rojas (ESP) well motivated after their victories in the Klasika Primavera and the opening stage of the Vuelta al País Vasco. The telephone squad’s lineup will be completed by Ángel Madrazo, Pablo Lastras, Imanol Erviti, Portuguese Rui Costa and Belarusian Vasil Kiryienka
