Vuelta a Madrid

Movistar Team have won all four Europe Tour stageraces held in Spain in 2012 and aspire to do the same in the last one this weekend: the Vuelta a Madrid

Movistar Team line up this weekend in the 26th Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid with the goal of completing their spectacular performances, including the overall victory, in all four 2.1 Europe Tour stageraces (Andalucía -Valverde-, Murcia –Quintana-, Castilla y León –Moreno- and Asturias –Intxausti-) held in Spain. The Madrilian race will be the last one in Spain under that category -Burgos, in August, will be a 2.HC-, and the telephone squad will look forward to completing their streak there and repeating last year’s triumph by Rui Costa. The Blue squad will line up with Juanjo Cobo, Jonathan Castroviejo, Iván Gutiérrez, Jesús Herrada, Angel Madrazo, Javi Moreno, Rubén Plaza and Colombian Nairo Quintana, all of them directed by Yvon Ledanois.

This year’s race will be a two-stage event: Saturday (12.00 CET) will see a 7.8-kilometer individual time trial being held in Madrid’s Casa de Campo Park, while Sunday’s stage will be a 178km mountain trek from Colmenar Viejo to the Puerto de Morcuera (Cat. 1), tackled for the first time with 70k to go after three Cat. 3 ascents and the passage through Canencia (Cat. 2) prior to the final climb.
