Rui Costa, Movistar Team cover the fourth, penultimate stage of the Tour of Beijing -won by Austrian Marco Haller (KAT)- with no incidents, will close their brilliant 2012 season on Chinese soil tomorrow
Rui Costa will aspire on Saturday to finish a 2012 WorldTour race for the sixth time within the best ten after completing, alongside his Movistar Team mates, the penultimate day of the Tour of Beijing, over 165.5 kilometers between Yanqing and Changping solved into a mass sprint won by Austrian Marco Haller (KAT). The telephone squad, always together through the course, had quite an easy day at the front part of a bunch that pursued, after the day’s three categorized climbs, the quintet of escapees from which Frenchman Jéremy Roy (FDJ) jumped to stay away until the final 7k.
The overall classification, still led by Tony Martin (OPQ), will have its top ten positions played into a position account where Costa is in strong advantage over his main rivals, sitting in the 9th place gained yesterday. The fifth, last stage and the final day of competition in the Spanish team’s second season, offers 182km with two ascents in the opening 30 k’s and two other climbs in the finale, featuring the Si Zuo Lou (Cat. 1; 5.4km at 5.9%) just 29k from Ping Gu.
