Signings

Two of the most remarkable former riders in the history of Eusebio Unzué's squad officially join the World Tour team structure

Chente García Acosta and José Luis Laguía will join Movistar Team’s technical staff as of next season. The two sports directors make the telephone squad reach a picturesque milestone, as the four men calling the shots for the team directed by Eusebio Unzué –Laguía and Chente join José Luis Arrieta and José Luis Jaimerena into a group where Alfonso Galilea (technical director) and Unzué himself also take charge of the team in some races- previously made part of the Spanish roster as pro riders.

José Vicente García Acosta (Tafalla, 1972) –always commanded by Unzué in his 17 seasons as pro cyclist- becomes a DS for Movistar Team after covering several technical duties in the Giro d’Italia and the Vuelta a España last year. A similar case goes for José Luis Laguía (Barcelona, 1959), who coordinated the Movistar Team continental squad in 2012 after a brilliant career as pro rider (14 years, 8 of them with Unzué) continued with a long career in pro teams and different entities in cycling.

Both will share their task behind the steering wheel with José Luis Jaimerena (pro at the 1983 Reynolds), DS for 11 years in the amateur squad and in the pro team since 1996, and José Luis Arrieta, who took up as sports director in 2011 after 18 seasons as pro, 12 of them into the Navarran group.
